3 スペインで見つけた 最後のおじさんジャケット 「テバ」を巡る物語 撮影・文／山下英介 実を言うと「ぼくのおじさん」がスペインに渡った最大の理由は、現地のいい味出してるおじさんたちがやたらと着ている「テバ」というジャケットのことを調べるためだった！　そこで本題に入る前に、まずは「ぼくのおじさん」がこのジャケットに注目する理由について語っておきたい。 「ぼくのおじさん」には アイコンが必要だ 2016年頃に、イタリアの「ピッティ・ウォモ」で出会った『木村伊兵衛のパリ』おじさんこと、フスト・ヒメノさん。往年のヨーロッパ紳士を彷彿させるその佇まいに、編集人は衝撃を受けた ジャック・タチ演じるユロ伯父さんの、よれよれのステンカラーコート。伊丹十三さんが行きつけのテーラーで仕立てた、チャイナジャケット。寅さんが襟を立てて着ていた、ド派手な裏地をあしらったチェック柄ジャケット・・・。「ぼくのおじさん」が憧れる素敵なおじさんたちには、アイコンとなるアウターが付きものだ。それも時代の流れに逆行する普遍的な味わいと、得体の知れなさと紙一重の〝自由〟を感じさせる一着が・・・。たいていの場合、それらは世界各国で長年つくられ続けている土着的なものだったりする。 でも、残念だけど2024年の世界には、そうしたおじさんたちの服がめっきり少なくなってしまった。オーストリアのローデンコートやチロリアンジャケットしかり、フランスのフォレスティエールしかり、フィレンツェのマレンマジャケットしかり、世界のおじさんたちが長年愛用してきたクラシックなアウターやその専業メーカーはどんどん廃業するか、生産拠点を海外に移して味気のない服に変わり果ててしまっている。いまさら嘆いたって仕方がないけれど、それってやっぱり寂しいし、ユニクロを着た「ぼくのおじさん」なんて、なんだか格好つかないじゃん! 最後の〝ぼくのおじさん ジャケット〟を スペインで見つけた！ そんな世の中にちょっと飽き足らない思いを抱いている「ぼくのおじさん」だが、数年前にちょっとした〝発見〟をしていた。イタリアのファッション展示会で出会った、まるで『木村伊兵衛のパリ』に出てきそうな佇まいのおじさんが着ていたそのハンティング風ジャケットは、会場に並ぶ物欲しげでけばけばしい洋服たちとは全く異質のオーラを放っていた。土着的でどこか野暮ったさも感じさせるのだが、都会の絵の具に染まっていない素っぴんの表情が、たまらなく愛おしい。編集人が思わず尋ねたところ、彼はフスト・ヒメノ（JUSTO GIMENO)というスペイン人で、「TEBA（テバ）」と呼ばれるこのジャケットを長年製造販売している会社の社長なのだとか。 こちらは編集人が2016〜2017年頃に海外のセレクトショップで購入したテバジャケット。海外ではパリの「BEIGE Habilleur」や香港の「アーモリー」といった感度の高いショップを中心に、数年前から販売されていた。 ぼくたちは産業として大きなイタリアやイギリスのことばかりマークするあまり、スペインにだってクラシックなファッション文化が存在するという至極当然のことに、目がいってなかったのかもしれない!?　編集人はすぐさま、海外のセレクトショップでこのテバジャケットを購入した。 こちらも編集人私物の「テバ」。テーラードジャケットのようでもあり、ハンティングジャケットのようでもあり、カバーオールのようでもあるという、ありそうでなかったデザインだ。ハンティング由来のジャケットというと、以前「ぼくのおじさん」が記事をつくったアルニスの「フォレスティエール」が思い浮かぶが、現在のテバジャケットからはそうしたスノッブな趣はそれほど感じられない。もっと土着的で質実剛健。生地や着こなし、着る人によってその表情は大きく変わるのだ。 ゴージの刻みがないラペルとシャツ袖が、テバジャケットにおける最大の特徴。気負いのない力の抜けたムードが、いい意味でのおじさんっぽさを感じさせる。 こちらがフスト ヒメノのタグ。スペイン東部のサラゴサという街が本拠地らしい。 身頃や肩に薄い芯を入れているのもの、裏地もなくとても軽やかな仕立て。昨今の日本の気候にも合っていると思う ハンティング由来だけに、襟を立てて着てもいい。ただ、ボタンは留まらないのだが・・・。 軽い仕立てだけに、畳んでも型崩れしにくいので、旅行に持って行くと重宝しそうだ。 個人的には古着やトラッドな着こなしと相性のいいカントリーテイストのツイードが気に入っているが、カシミアやフランネルなどの高級素材に載せかえても、きっと素敵だろう。当然着るシーンや年齢も選ばないだろうし、これからの定番ジャケットになることは間違いない 初めて着たテバジャケットは、ミラノやパリのビッグブランドが仕立てた都会的でラグジュアリーなジャケットとはなにもかもが違った。もっと気軽で、いい意味での土っぽさ・・・今や洋服からほとんど感じることができなくなった、〝テロワール〟のようなものを感じさせたのだ。この服には、スペインという土地や、文化の匂いが詰め込まれている！ 以来、このテバジャケットが日本で買えるようになることを、ずっと待ち望んでいた編集人だが、この秋ついに本格的な展開が始まるとの一報が。これはもう、スペインに行くしかないじゃないか！ そんな経緯から始まった「ぼくのおじさん」のスペイン取材は、現代に遺された〝ぼくのおじさんジャケット〟ことテバジャケットのことを徹底的に掘り下げるとともに、この国のファッション事情やクラフツマンシップについても調査してきた。一着のジャケットから始まる物語を、ぜひお楽しみください 編集人のテバジャケットを、スペインで買ってきたバッグやブーツと合わせてみた。さすがはハンティング由来のジャケット、当たり前のように抜群の相性だ。編集人はコーデュロイのパンツなどを合わせた正統派おじさんスタイルを楽しみたいところだが、古着のスウェットとか色落ちしたジーンズと合わせても格好いいと思う！ 今季から本格的な日本での展開が決まったフスト ヒメノとテバジャケット。ここで掲載しているもの以外にも、多彩なジャケットやコートが、数寄者バイヤーを擁するいくつかのセレクトショップに並ぶらしい。商品や取り扱い店舗に関する問い合わせは、輸入代理店を務める株式会社エスプリ・ユージーまでご連絡を。編集人と同じくこのジャケットに惚れ込んだおじさん、嶋田さんまで連絡してみてください！   Artículo: https://www.mononcle.jp/feature/spain/12557/ 

Southern Italians are famous for their soft tailoring, but nobody really does a soft jacket like the Spanish. Specifically their Teba – a country jacket that comes mostly unpadded throughout the chest and shoulders, and features those signature shirt-like sleeves, ventless backs, and most importantly, notchless lapels. In a world where everything is being homogenized, the Teba is one of the last articles of men’s clothing that’s still unique to a region.  Stories regarding the style are a bit murky. Some say the original Teba was a gift to the Count of Teba, Carlos de Mitjans y Fitz-James Stuart (known affectionately to his closest friends as Bunting), from King Alfonso XIII. Others say the exchange was the other way around. Others still say the jacket was originally made on London’s Savile Row and then adapted by a Spanish tailor to fit the Count’s needs. Whatever the actual origins, the Count almost certainly popularized it, and he most likely wore it out in the Spanish countrysides, where he spent time drinking wine and hunting quail. Over the years, it’s become an iconic piece of Spanish countrywear, mostly surviving on its comfort and aura of romanticism. Construction wise, the Teba is something like a shirt jacket, combining the unstructured Neapolitan form with British-like-style. The notchless lapels may look odd at first, but they’re hardly even noticeable in dark fabrics. When worn, they give the jacket a more casual vibe. The ventless back and shirt-like sleeves also keep things casual, while the unlined and (largely) unpadded interior make things look relaxed.  You can get a Teba from any number of places. Bel y Cia is perhaps most famous, but – as far as I know – they only do made-to-measure, which means you have to travel to Barcelona to order. Given that the garment is custom, you can get the jacket as loosely or tightly fitted as you want, and they have a range of materials (including some knitted jerseys that turn the Teba into a cardigan). Bel y Cia’s are machine-made, but hand-finished, which is a nice touch, but also drives up the price.  For a more affordable version, try Last of England and Artumés & Company. The first is a UK brand, but they source their Tebas from Spain. The second is a Spanish shop for classic countrywear (they don’t seem to take online orders, but maybe you can call). Mine is from Justo Gimeno, an old Spanish company for Continental outerwear. Their Tebas are very lightly padded throughout the chest and shoulders, which help give the garment a bit more shape. The fit is also slouchy and relaxed, which in my opinion is how the style is best worn (see Arnold from The Armoury below for inspiration).   on July 23, 2014 Last Of England visited the manufacturer of its Teba jackets on Monday. The factory is located in Zaragoza, Spain. We were looked after most kindly by Justo who is the third generation of his family to be involved with the company. Results of the visit will be available in September. Feine Herr: ¿Quién eres y qué haces en la industria de la moda? Justo Gimeno: Soy Justo Gimeno. En mi empresa hago abrigos, gabardinas y chaquetas varias. Entonces, por ejemplo. Por ejemplo, chaquetas camiseras, chaquetas safari y especialmente la chaqueta Teba. Esta es nuestra chaqueta. También soy agente de marcas seleccionadas, p. B: Drake’s, William Lockie y, más recientemente, Hiltl. Sólo quiero representar los mejores productos. Quiero viajar por mis propios productos, que vendo yo mismo. De ahí surgió la idea de representar también a otras marcas. ¿Has fundado tu empresa Justo Gimeno ? No, mi abuelo Justo Gimeno. Así también se llaman. Y mi padre también. Soy el tercer Justo Gimeno en la empresa y el sexto en la familia. Mi abuelo empezó a fabricar impermeables en Zaragoza en 1907. Estuvo en Argentina y conoció la producción de prêt-à-porter allí. Comenzó con impermeables. Nuestro producto más conocido es la chaqueta Teba. También podríamos hacer chaquetas normales, pero hay muchos otros fabricantes. ¿Puedes contarnos un poco sobre la historia de esta chaqueta? El conde Teba hizo que su sastre le hiciera esta chaqueta. Teba era amiga del rey español Alfonso XIII y salía a cazar con él. Entonces el rey notó la chaqueta. La chaqueta entonces era verde, que es el color del campo español. Mi abuelo empezó a confeccionar la chaqueta Teba en los años 20. Hizo muy buenos negocios durante la Primera Guerra Mundial. Como país neutral, España no participó en la guerra y los fabricantes españoles pudieron seguir produciendo. Mi abuelo hacía muchas gabardinas en aquella época. A finales de la década de 1060 mi padre se hizo cargo del negocio. Tiene p.e. B. Se suministra la vieja Inglaterra en París. Esa era una hermosa tienda. Sí, allí estaba el estilo inglés. Pero francés refinado. Dirijo nuestra empresa desde 1992. Mi hermano es el responsable de nuestro negocio en Zaragoza. ¿Qué color es el más popular para la chaqueta Teba? Nuestro best seller es la chaqueta Teba de punto en color “Navy”. Seguido por el de verde oscuro, luego el de verde más claro, azul melange y el color “tostado”. Es un marrón oliva claro, ligeramente moteado. También elaboramos la Teba con Harristweed o tweed en espiga. A petición de los clientes podemos cambiar detalles, algunos quieren cuello y solapas como una chaqueta normal. También podemos añadir un pequeño bolsillo extra en el bolsillo exterior. Hay muchas oportunidades. ¿Por qué tu chaqueta Teba sólo tiene un bolsillo interior a la derecha? Porque tenemos el bolsillo del pecho a la izquierda. Si pones algo en el bolsillo del pecho y luego también algo en un bolsillo interior que está debajo, eso desequilibraría la chaqueta y quedaría colgando hacia la izquierda. Por eso sólo tenemos el bolsillo interior a la derecha. Eso tiene sentido. Una justificación muy convincente. Sólo te vi con una chaqueta Teba en Pitti Uomo. ¿Los usas exclusivamente? Sí, incluso los usé para mi boda en la iglesia, en azul oscuro. En invierno suelo llevar una Teba verde, en verano llevo una ligera mochila de Vitale Barberis Canonico www.vitalebarberiscanonico.com en color “Navy” o en lino azul oscuro.La chaqueta Teba vi por primera vez en España a finales de los ochenta. En los últimos años ha aparecido cada vez más entre los hombres bien vestidos del norte de Europa. Michael Jondral también los vende desde hace algunas temporadas. ¿De dónde viene este interés?Creo que mi chaqueta llama la atención de la gente cuando camino con ella puesta. En un momento, Douglas Cordeaux me envió una tela azul claro y oscuro de Fox Brothers porque quería una Teba. Ahora también los vende en su tienda online. Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris, known as Le Corbusier, had a rational vision of the architectural organization of space. It was essential to be able to do more with less, the optimization of space was an obsession for this visionary creator. This is how he ordered his structures on a free plan and imagined his constructions as a total work of art: his conceptions integrate all collective equipments in a single building. This was the beginning of postmodernism and the rationalization of urban space. Le Corbusier also loved clothing. He was a well-known customer of the Arnys house. Léon Grimbert, head-tailor of the French house, imagined one day a jacket for this peculiar customer. «An elegant jacket that forgets it is part of a suit» boasted Arnys in 2010, the «Forestière». A jacket with a collar without flap and patch pockets, inspired by those worn by the forest rangers of the French region of Sologne. If the house has since disappeared, the heritage of this jacket remains intact. The garment is the historical product of its social context, the desire to extirpate from its social condition and the search for comfort are often the catalysts. This hybrid jacket finds its echo in other clothes before it, in particular the hunting jackets. This is the case of the Teba jacket, a revolutionary jacket. Here is the story of a love affair with clothing as it rarely happens, the Teba jacket by Justo Gimeno being the protagonist. Let’s have a closer look. What is a Teba jacket? The Teba jacket is named from the 22nd Count of Teba, Carlos Alfonso de Mitjans y Fitz-James Stuart (1907 – 1997), grand-nephew of the Empress Eugénie. He was said to be the best shooter in Europe and was given a jacket by King Alfonso XIII (1886 – 1941), cut in Savile Row, which – after some improvements by a tailor from Zarautz, in the Spanish Basque Country – has survived the ages. My quest Like many, after exploring the casual and formal possibilities of my wardrobe, I felt I was missing an in-between. I was looking for a jacket that would be an intermediary between casual and formal. I was looking for a kind of urban slack jacket. My fascination began after a trip to Andalusia in 2019 where all the elegant old gentlemen I met on the street were wearing a peculiar jacket with style. I noted the characteristic rounded lapel notch, buttons on the sleeves, 4 central buttons and above all a total absence of interlining. A completely unstructured jacket. It was for me a must have, almost an obsession. I did some research and went to a Sevillian store that sold suits, I learned that it was a jacket called «Teba» from the name of the count who offered this piece to King Alfons XIII for his hunting sprees. The seller told me the other name of the «chaqueta Teba» was «la tiradora», because one «shoots» with it. Heading this time to «El Corte Inglés» – equivalent of Galeries Lafayette in Spain – I discover that the Tebas are sold as timeless garments but in limited fabrics and colors: cotton/jersey and mostly blue or green. As often, no size could satisfy my body shape. Back in Paris, I started looking for a Teba, in vain. I even ordered one from a tailor, but the result was not convincing, I did not find the casualness with which these old Sevillian gentlemen used to wear this chaqueta. I also ordered one on the Spanish website Lopez Aragon, but again, the Teba was missing something. I had heard of Spanish workshops that made Tebas. Bel y Cia in Barcelona was one of them, a tailoring house making Tebas in MTM – Made to Measure – but extremely expensive. I did some research and found Justo Gimeno, in Zaragoza. I see that they are distributed in Paris at Beige Habilleur but unfortunately the selected sizes did not suit me … Justo Gimeno has no website, but they do have an Instagram account! This is how my adventure with Justo Gimeno began. A house more than a century old In 1885, Justo Gimeno Padrilla left Argentina to train as a tailor in Spain, opening his first workshop in Zaragoza.  For some years, the company has been collaborating with several brands, making Tebas for them (Merchant Fox is one of them, always in exclusive fabrics). Justo Gimeno obviously offers a tailoring service in Zaragoza. But since I couldn’t get there easily, I asked them if it was possible to do «remote Made-To-Measure». It’s a risky endeavor when you don’t know your measurements well, but I’ve already ordered entire suits following this principle (my Prologue Hong Kong suits and jackets for example!).  An exchange of emails with the sales manager followed and I then ordered two jackets: one in blue fresco wool and the other in green linen.   The conquest Once I received the jackets, I was conquered. The measurements were perfect, the jackets well cut. Justo Gimeno does not – to my knowledge – make remote MTM. For this reason, I had ordered a surplus of blue fresco fabric to make trousers to transform this Teba jacket into a suit. I did this with Ardentes Clipei, a tailor in Paris. Today I have several Teba jackets, all from Justo Gimeno. The fabrics, the service, the quality and the overall rendering are incredible. I often wear a Teba jacket as a mismatch, but I can also turn it into a suit with my blue fresco trousers. I often wear it to work as pictured here: a blue knit tie, an OCBD flap pocket, knee socks and belgian loafers from Crown Northampton. Nothing prevents me from swapping these loafers for canvas shoes for example. Because that’s the advantage of an outfit with a Teba jacket: everything is possible. The perfect jacket Since lockdown (Act I, March 2020), our way of dressing has evolved. Less suits, more comfort. But comfort does not come before
